MYRTLE Seaside, S.C. (WMBF) – A Myrtle Seashore landmark will soon be offering cost-free tours for those intrigued in viewing a slice of background.

The City of Myrtle Seashore will offer tours of the nearby landmark starting next thirty day period.
Charlie’s Position will be presenting the excursions each Tuesday starting Feb. 2. The house on Carver Street was a preferred spot for early Motown artists from the 1930′s to the early 1960′s. It also delivered a location for African American artists to accomplish, including Dizzy Gillespie, Minor Richard, Billie Holiday getaway, Duke Ellington and lots of other folks.
The nightclub was owned by Charlie Fitzgerald and his wife, Sarah. It was also upcoming doorway to their property and resort they operated in the Booker T. Washington neighborhood.
The Town of Myrtle Beach bought the land and then commenced a reconstruction and reworking venture to use Fitzgerald’s residence as a group heart and event space. Some of the early jobs incorporated reconstruction of inside room and the monitor porch, as very well as incorporating area to the rear of the creating.
The city then moved to restore the to start with four motel units, with some rooms staying retained as a museum though other folks will be reconstructed.
